latest news from the torture chamber

Yes, Joanna passed.

But like Tony, she has to do the Sanskrit vocabulary.

Congratulations, I suppose.

Who's next in the lion den???????????

Tony passed his Anatomy on the Sunday, 30th November.

Can I please say something to the three of you awaiting your turn: you are training to be yoga teachers first and foremost, not anatomists, doctors, physiotherapists, physical therapists, kinesiologists. So I need you to solve asana problems, NOT to be walking textbooks on muscles.

So all I want you to do is to be able to work out what the hell’s wrong with a student’s asana from SIMPLE FOUNDATIONS, not throw muscle names at me (I will kick ass the next time or scream the shala down): I want you to be able to work out which muscle is too tight, which is too weak, etc, what’s the problem with a certain posture. If you can give me the name, GOOD. If not, so bloody what!!! I am never going to get mad at you if you don’t know the names of the four quadriceps muscles.

So please for God’s sake do not be bogged down by the details to the extent that you do not see the problem. I will not be giving medals for textbook anatomy. This is all about bloody yoga, bloody yoga, bloody yoga and how to teach bloody asana. (I don’t believe I am teaching you all how to use information ...! But just so that you know how).

Right now, I don’t want to see or hear from any of you. I need to find a bar in Goa and try to forget you all.

(See above for a few of them)

After that, Joanna introduced the abdominal muscles:

Ayurvedic Dosha

Without the vata, no project will ever get started; no new venture explored and nothing new will ever be discovered.

Without the pitta, there will be no fire, no passion, to get the project started.

Without the kapha, there will be no one to focus on the details, to bring the project to fruition.

We need all three.

Answer this:
Teacher, few questions that probably you could help:
1) Why my students feels 'cramp' and dizzy aftercoming down from shoulderstand and plough? Bloodcirculation and improper breathing? They feel dizzyonly after they wake up the next morning.
2) I have one student who have cramps in almost asanaseven in the simple ones. Why?? She's almost 50 yrs oldand I can see she has very stiff shoulder.

Schnifoo Gurunam Singh Perry

This is Schnifoo Gurunam Singh Perry with Georgina Jean Perry. Whilst Malcolm is flying over the continents to the UK and me teaching, G stormed the neighbour's house to rescue this poor little kitten who was left to die in the sun.

It's soooo tiny, still wet, sticky, blind and has the umbilical cord attached to it. Quite yukky, even the maid won't touch it. I don't think it will last the night (there's barely any life left in it), but hopefully, with a steady diet of organic protein replacement and RaMaDaSa, it will live. Yes, we have been doing the healing mantra for Schnifoo, and I have named him after Gurunam, the best teacher in New York. Wahe Guru!

Raja dinner

Four yogis continues their journey this week at the raja yoga center (and apparently need to refuel not only their souls, but also their bodies).

Four yogis has learned so far that they are shining souls, to be mindful and aware and to keep their eyes open. They are also (in picture above) contemplating vegetarianism. (Think we got a good reason yesterday after Mable's talk on animal souls and dying animal toxins!!)

Thank you fellow yogis for the journey so far and the journey ahead!

Yogis go Raja

Yesterday was the start for a new chapter of our ttc when we went for the first session at the of Raja yoga. Personally, I had no idea what to expect but was positively surprised when we had a regular class followed by a 10-minute meditation. Not too bad for a start!
- Did we learn who we are? Perhaps not from the first class.
- Did we get better knowledge of the third eye? Definitely.
- Was there a red light? Yup! (however, not flashing in our eyes)

Session number two is tonight and I am actually looking forward to it.
